Kerstin Schmitt

Kerstin Schmitt specialises in media and copyright law. The protection of personality rights is her main focus. Her areas of expertise include media crisis communications in the run-up to publication, legal action against reporting and litigation representation. In addition to her extensive forensic work, she is a leading expert in personality rights issues in film adaptations of real events as well as the protection against commercial exploitation of the Human Persona.

Before being admitted to the bar in 2008, she worked as a research assistant to Prof. Dr. Horst-Peter Götting at the Institute for Intellectual Property, Competition and Media Law from 2003-2008. In 2006, she supervised the LL.B. European (German)/Magister programme at the University of Exeter and taught as a lecturer in German Law.

Kerstin Schmitt is a lecturer at the Institute for International Law, Intellectual Property and Technology Law at the Technical University of Dresden. She joined VON HAVE FEY as a partner in 2023. Prior to that, she worked in a leading law firm specialising in press, copyright and media law in Berlin, for 15 years.
